What does "Virtual" mean?
We host focus groups through the use of the Internet and do not require in-person meetings.
Connect via Zoom
All focus groups are hosted through Zoom meetings. Participants chosen to attend will receive a unique meeting ID and password.
Virtual Payment
Virtual participant guests are paid through PayPal instantly at the completion of the focus group.

Tips for virtual focus groups
Please consider these suggestions to make the virtual focus group better for you and others.
1. Cell Phone versus computer
Cell Phone connections do not work. Computers or tablets have better connections and less issues.
2. Internet connection
If your internet is not working well, you may be frustrated.
To improve your video and audio experience, consider: (1) connect directly rather than wireless, if you have that capability, (2) shut down all other programs – like email, social media, or other webpages on your computer or tablet, and (3) turn off Internet on all other devices to the extent reasonably possible. Not saying cause a family crisis over banned internet use, just consider reducing the number of devices using the Internet.
3. Volume, Bluetooth, earbuds, earphones
We recommend using earbuds and/or earphones to assist your ability to hear others. This also prevents others in your house from listening/commenting/being annoyed by the focus group. If you are using Bluetooth speakers/ear buds, please check to make sure they have a microphone so we can hear when you speak.
4. Private and quiet space
We recognize that you are home with family or housemates. Please act in accordance with the Confidently Agreement you signed and choose a private space to protect the information from other people nearby listening in. You may use a neutral virtual background to give you privacy. NOTE: Any virtual background that is distracting or offensive is prohibited, and if you refuse to change it you will be removed from the Zoom meeting.
5. Zoom software
Zoom provides a free account and software download. However, you do not need to have the free software downloaded and can access Zoom through a web browser. You will receive a Zoom video conference link via e-mail provided the confidentiality agreement is returned. Anyone attempting to log in after the posted start time will not be allowed to participate.
6. PayPal account
We are providing instant payments through PayPal. PayPal offers free accounts. Your PayPal will link directly and safely to a bank account for free transfers.
7. Video Required
We need to see you through the entire focus group. Check your camera on your device before joining. If you have any privacy concerns, Zoom settings allow virtual backgrounds to block your location. Note: Any virtual background that is distracting or offensive is prohibited, and if you refuse to change it you will be removed from the Zoom meeting.
8. Zoom settings
Zoom provides tool bar at the bottom of the screen. The tool bar contains buttons that allow you to mute/unmute, turn video on/off, and use Chat to type a question or post an issue. You can mute and unmute yourself in the event of unexpected background noise (dog barking, phone ringing etc).
9. Multiple device considerations
For Apple products, this happens to us — phone rings to multiple computers, watches, phones, plus any video you have up on Internet starts playing. The solution that works for us is turn off the sound for watch and phone; and turn off notifications on computer. Keep your computer sound on.
10. Do a Test Run!
Concerned about how to do Zoom? With a free Zoom account you can set up your own 40 minute meeting for free. In your account, you can instantly start a Zoom meeting with a click of a button at the top right-hand corner. Doing a test run will allow you to check out sound and video function of your laptop, computer or tablet.
